Photographer. Storyteller.
Observer of light and connection.
Hello, I’m Stu — a photographer, storyteller, dingo dad, coffee drinker, and lifelong observer of light.
I first fell in love with photography after finding my Dad’s old 35mm Praktica in a dusty case and pointing it at anything that caught my attention. I didn’t know it then, but that camera taught me something I still believe now: photographs matter most when they hold onto a feeling.
I photographed my first wedding in 2013, after a couple realised they had booked almost everything except the photographer. A family friend asked me to step in as their wedding gift, and I found myself thrown headfirst into the strange, beautiful, emotional theatre of a wedding day.
Since then, I’ve photographed weddings across NSW, and I’ve learned that the job is never just about the camera.
Sometimes it’s tying ties, calming nerves, fixing a dress with double-sided tape, finding the right pocket of light, or noticing the quiet glance no one else saw. Sometimes it’s knowing when to step in, and when to disappear.
My work is built around atmosphere, connection, and honest moments — the kind of images that don’t just show what happened, but bring back how it felt.
I’m not interested in perfect. I’m interested in real.
The laughter, the nerves, the weather, the movement, the messy joy, the people you love most, and all the little in-between moments that become part of the story.
Based in the NSW Hunter Valley, I photograph weddings, portraits, and landscapes across Newcastle, the Hunter, and beyond.
